200 chickens & 6 goats
With our ~200 chickens and 9 goats, we have a great supply of organic manure which we compost and apply to our organic fruits and vegetables.
organic fertilizers
We recycle coffee grounds and eggshells from our great local
coffee house, BOLD – Framing, Art and Espresso.
our compost program
We hope to reinstate our compost program with the Shelburne Inn and the Pickled Fish where we diverted
2 tons of organic food scraps
last year pre-pandemic.
Our
chickens and goats
While we need to be careful what we feed them, chickens and goats are great foragers and help us breakdown these scraps and graze in our organic fields. We grow a variety of cover crops such as rye, wheat and clover for our animals.
We love goats and chickens! Our current goat herd has three does — Meg, Susannah, and Macy; two wethers (fixed males), Sherlock and Watson; and our breeding buck, Tontou Too/Two.

Paintings
by Goats
When you come visit us on The Farm, you can view art created by Meg’s mom, Amirya, and by Meg and Susannah too. Our sister farm run by the Starling family has Paintings by Goats and other animals.
Check out this TV news feature on their goats who paint, and when you come to the Peninsula, they are definitely worth a visit too!
